Portland Classical Guitar (PCG) is proud to announce its season opening gala concerts the first at the Mt. Angel Abbey on Friday, September 5, and the second at Marylhurst University’s St. Anne’s Chapel, on Friday, September 12. These concerts, which will each begin at 8 PM, will mark the official launch of the eagerly-awaited tenth season of PCG’s much-loved annual concert series. Each will feature performances by local guitaristsWilliam Jenks, Peter Zisa, Dan Cosley, and Mario Diaz.
PCG proprietor William Jenks is not only a fixture on the local classical guitar scene, with several excellent recordings under his belt and a long history of performances in the Pacific Northwest, Europe, and Latin America; he is also well-known for creating the PCG series in the first place. Jenks will perform Vivaldi’s Concerto in D Major with a stellar group of local musicians, all of whom are members of the Portland Chamber Orchestra: Tatiana Kolchanova, Janet Brittle, Stefana Berceanu, Travis Chapman, Ashley Peck, Chang Min Lee and more.
