Join Mount Angel Abbey monks for Festival of Arts & Wine
MOUNT ANGEL, Ore. — The monks of Mount Angel Abbey invite the community to join them for the 2014 Festival of Arts & Wine, to be held at the Abbey on Saturday, June 28, from 1 to 5 p.m.
The scenic Benedictine monastery, just above the town of Mt. Angel, overlooks the Willamette Valley, and the annual event supports the monastery, library and guest house.
The festival features wine and beer tastings, including samples from the Abbey’s Benedictine Brewery, along with hearty hors d’oeuvres, artisanal food tastings, art exhibits and sales, monk-led tours of the Abbey, and live music.
A live auction features adventures and other items, including a weekend fishing trip on the Oregon coast (with fish guaranteed!), a stay at a mountain resort in Sisters, Ore., dinner with several lively monks, and dinner for eight prepared by Abbey Chef Paul Lieggi, featuring local, fresh fare.
Attire is casual, with sunhats and layers recommended.
Tickets include complimentary catered hors d’oeuvres and artisanal food, free wine and beer tastings, the art exhibits and music. Single tickets are $50. Group discounts are offered, with four tickets for $160 and eight tickets for $300. Those who wish to offer special support for the Abbey may purchase a patron ticket for $125. Organizers recommend that tickets be purchased in advance, at www.mountangelabbey.org/FAW2014TICKETS.htm, but tickets are also available at the event.
Those wishing to stay overnight in the Abbey Guest House may call 503-845-3025 for reservations at a special rate.
